Ellsworth
Richard (Dick) H. Turnbull went to meet his Lord and Savior at the age of 93 on Feb. 6, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Patton, Pa., Dick was loved, respected and admired by all who knew him. Dick was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a World War II disabled veteran. Dick served his community as a volunteer fireman and reserve police officer in the city of Ellsworth for many years. Serving God, his family, his country and his community was very important to him. Dick was very active in his church, Maine Coast Baptist Church, and served as a deacon for many years. Dick worked for over 30 years at the St. Regis/Champion paper mill in Bucksport while also owning his own TV repair business. In 1950, he met the love of his life, Maralyn (Pete) Kane, and began their life of 70 happy years together.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, William and Leah Turnbull, brother Robert Turnbull, sisters Donna Dougherty and Marjorie Hughes and granddaughter Courtney Spencer.
Dick is survived by his wife, Maralyn (Pete); daughters Jeri and husband, Stephen Luft, of South Portland, Sonya Lee of Bloomington, Ind., and Jean and husband, Stephen Wood, of Ellsworth; seven grandchildren, Richard and wife, Jennifer Harriman, Melissa and husband, John Bower, Rebecca Harriman, Jonathan and wife, Courtney Wood, Matthew Wood and significant other Becky Alley, Brent Spencer and Brandon (BJ) and wife, Toya Spencer; 16 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Hezekiah, Samuel, Joshua, Helen, Evelyn, Andrew, Raven, Lark, Bryce, Blake, Jenny, Brett, Aidan, Ava and Loxley, as well as, many special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Down East Family YMCA in his memory in care of Jean Wood, P.O. Box 25, Ellsworth, ME 04605, or to your local church or synagogue.
All services will be held at a later date when family and friends can celebrate his life together safely.

We have all of those in the Turnbull family in our thoughts and prayers. I have very fond memories of Uncle Dick especially when I was a young. He had a very big heart and was one of my favorites!
