Mariaville – Steven Anthony Lipkvich, 71, died unexpectedly at his home in Mariaville due to cardiac arrest on August 26, 2023. He was born June 27th, 1952, in New Haven, CT. son, of Louise and Steven W. Lipkvich.
Steven grew up in Branford, CT with his younger brother and sister. He attended Branford High School but did not graduate. It would be many years later that he would complete his GED. He furthered his education by obtaining a welding degree from West Haven Technical Institute, and a degree in Forestry Conservation from the North American School of Conservation. Steven worked as a fine finish carpenter for over 40 years. He was married three times, each time ending in divorce. His third wife, Lore, blessed him with a son, Justin. Steven and Lore moved to Mariaville not long after to raise their son. The last few years of his life were spent with his girlfriend, Camille, and her children.
When not working he tended to his many hobbies, including walking through the woods, picking wild berries along the way, and collecting wood that he would “use some day”. He enjoyed casting a line on Tannery Brooke and Graham Lake. Many summer days were spent paddling to and from Sand Island. He enjoyed bonfires and campfires with people close to him, and helping his neighbors when he could. He was an avid photographer in his younger years capturing many incredible wildlife moments on film. He gardened every year, though mostly only achieving an excellent crop of weeds. What did grow he mostly gave away to neighbors. He helped his son start and grow his business both in the way of financial assistance and emotional support.
He is survived by his son, Justin Lipkvich and his wife, Jessica, of Pittsfield ME; his brother, John Lipkvich and his wife, Lynn, of Randolph VT. He was predeceased by his parent, Louise and Steven; sister, Susan.
There will be a celebration of life at the Elks Lodge at 317 High St in Ellsworth on October 29th at 2 pm. Friends and family are welcome to swap stories and memories, share a drink, and give him a good farewell.
