Terence “Terry” Spence
Terence “Terry” Spence, 56, died very unexpectedly October 16, 2022 of cardiac arrest at home with his wife by his side.
Terry was born March 17, 1966 in Airdrie Scotland; son of the late William and Catherine Spence.
Terry’s family emigrated to the North Shore of Massachusetts in September of 1972. The family eventually settled in Lynn, Mass. In 1982, Terry became a United States citizen.
After completing his primary education, Terry attended the Peterson School of Engineering in Woburn, Mass. In 1994 Terry received his Master Oil Burner License and a Residential Air Condition License from the State of Massachusetts. While living in Massachusetts, Terry was employed by North Shore Fuel for many years.
In June of 1984, Terry met and fell in love with his future wife, Karen Nichols. They married in 1990 and began growing their family with daughters Kayla and Brittany.
In 2002, Terry and his family relocated to Franklin, Maine, where they remain today.
With the support of his family, Terry opened T&K Heating in 2006, which he operated until a decline in his health required that he retire.
Terry loved working in the heating industry and was very proud of the trade that he chose. Those who knew him knew that Terry was only a phone call away if there was someone in need.
One of the many great qualities Terry had was the ability to share and teach others of his knowledge of the industry.
Terry spent his last years enjoying tinkering in his garage, repairing and flipping vehicles, and creating many amazing memories with his family.
Terry is survived by his wife, Karen Spence (Nichols); daughter Kayla and son-in-law Tim Carter and daughter Brittany Spence; granddaughters Rya Hayes-Spence and Blake Mosley-Spence, grandsons Skyler and Easton Carter; sister Marie Spence and brother-in-law Muk Dodge of Milbridge, sister Lesa Davis of Ft. Myers, FL. and nephews Ryan and Zac Davis; brother Doug Chervin and sister-in-law Rosellen Hardt of New York. He is also survived by many close friends who stayed by his side through the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held November 19, 2022 at the Franklin Veteran’s Club from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Karen Spence in Terry’s name at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.
