Matthew Jay Murphy

Matthew Jay Murphy, 50 of Ellsworth, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023, with this family by his side. Matt was born November 3, 1972, in Middlebury, VT. The son of Peggy McCabe and Kenneth Murphy. He attended Shead High School, Eastport, and Middlebury Union High School, graduating in 1992. He worked various jobs in the Middlebury area.

Before Matt passed away, he was the garden department supervisor at the Ellsworth Home Depot where he worked for four years. He loved his job and enjoyed being part of the Home Depot family.

Survivors include his wife and soulmate, Adrianna, one beloved son, Dylan, 22 of Kentucky, daughter Madison “Moo”, 2, and stepdaughter Presley Lyons, 10, of Ellsworth, heartbroken mother Peggy who forever will miss her only child. Matt brought so much love and happiness to her. He was her gift of God; father Kenneth and “other mother” Elaine Murphy; a special uncle and godfather, Bob McCabe, who shared all the ups and downs in Matt’s life but never gave up on him; aunt Lori Waite and uncle Lyndsay Malzac, Aunt Diann McCabe who never allowed Peggy to correct him around her because he did no wrong in her eyes! Sisters JoEllen and husband Eddie Leeman; Ashley and husband Brandon Cox. Predeceased by grandparents Lester and Doris McCabe, Kenneth and Lorraine Murphy, a brother, Kenneth Murphy Jr, & aunt and godmother, Carol McCabe.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Northern Light Hospice for their excellent care. Arrangements made by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct.
