ELLSWORTH
Lylia (aka Tilly, Blondie or Brooks) M. Ferrara, 95, passed away January 5, 2022 at Seaport Village Healthcare. She was born April 10,1926 in Woodstock, ME, the daughter of Gleynn and Georgianna (Noyes) Brooks.
Lylia graduated from Brighton High School in Island Pond, VT, class of 1944. She met, and was married to her loving husband, Rocky Ferrara for 53 years before his death; living together in Needham, MA, Pompano Beach, FL and Lamoine, ME. Lylia was proud to say she was a Homemaker and Mother, although she did have a favorite part-time job working in the cafeteria of Needham High School, where she spent most of her time interacting with the students. She was a member of Island Pond VT Historical Society, Wampatuck Country Club, and the Congregational Church of Needham, MA.
Lylia had a twinkle in her eye and was always smiling, showing those dimples. She was a bright light with a zest for life. She has been described as a joker, an avid golfer, a clean freak, an ultimate baseball fan, a lover of casino slots, and helper to all (just to name a few). She adored her family, and everyone became part of it. Even though she only had one child, she was a Mom to anyone who needed one! For the past 7 years she lived at Seaport Village Assisted Living, being one of the first residents. She loved being there and interacting with all the residents and staff, (her friends). Although she is no longer with us, she’s left a big impression on a whole lot of hearts!
Her family hopes you’ll celebrate her life the way she would have wanted it – by going to Dunkin’s and ordering a chocolate stick (her favorite)!
Lylia is survived by her loving daughter, Lil (Ferrara) Stone and husband Greg of Lamoine; grandsons, Ryan and Mitch Stone and their wives Deirdre and Jennifer; great-grandson, Jack Stone; great-granddaughter, Millie Stone; sister, Glenyce Hughes; brother, Gleynn Brooks and wife, Sandra; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Rocky Ferrara; her brothers, George (Elwyn) Brooks and Albert (Slick) Brooks; her sisters, Lillian Leach and Grace Evans.
There will be a private send off only, and gifts in Lylia’s memory may be given to whatever cause is close to your heart.
Arrangements by Acadia Burial and Cremation Direct, 248 State St. Ellsworth.
