Guy L. Peabody



Guy Llewellyn Peabody, 84, died December 7, 2022 in Ellsworth at MCMH. He was born in Beals, ME, June 12, 1938, the son of Hilda A. Peabody. He grew up with grandparents, Capt. John F. and Lucy M. Peabody.

Guy graduated from Jonesport High School, class of 1959. He served in the US Navy from 1961-1966 on the USS Oklahoma City as an EM-2 in South China Sea, Vietnam. He married Bernice D. Lenfestey in 1961 and Jennie E. Beal in 1984. He worked for Lincoln Pulp and Paper as a pipefiller, Peabody Boat Repair, carpentry and fiberglass, motel clerk and maintenance, manufacturing production, General Electric, Cabletron Systems in NH. Guy enjoyed watching birds and wildlife, he liked taking photo’s especially deer, walking and playing with his dog, scenic rides and going out to eat, especially seafood. He also enjoyed watching western movies, PBS and listening to 50 & 60’s music and country music classics. Guy was a Veteran of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Jonesport Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie of 38 years; daughter, Lura F. Johnston and Billie Jo of Oakland; son, Timothy O. Alley and wife Trudy of Jonesport; stepdaughter, Melanie L. Dow and husband Gary of Hancock; stepson, Douglas E. Crabtree and wife Sue of Franklin; grandchildren, Clinton “Matthew” Johnston of Salt Bay, England, Nicholas J. Johnston of Wales, ME, Mallory A. Alley, Owen T. Alley, Benjamin R. Dow and wife Kelsey of Seal Cove, Gary H. Dow II of Hancock, Rachel A. Dow of Ellsworth, Robert J. Crabtree and wife Kristen of Hampden, Harold D. Crabtree and Kaitlynn Wilbur of Sullivan; great-grandchildren, Lillian N. and Malia T. Johnston, Rylee Emma, Carsen D. and Hazel A. Dow, Caylynn and Karlee Kroll and Caynen Crabtree. Brothers; Frank Clark of Chipley, FL and John H. Clark of  St. Augustine FL, and Kevin Clark of Chelmsford MA; sister, Mary C. Lemire of Tyngsboro MA. He was predeceased by Capt. John and Lucy Peabody, mother Hilda A. Clark, and brother Maxwell E. Peabody.

A service will be held in the spring.
