Frederick L. Thurston II

Frederick L. Thurston II

Bernard-

Frederick L. Thurston II, 59, died unexpectedly Nov. 5, 2023, at his home. He was born in Bar Harbor on June 3, 1964, to Frederick L. and Jennifer Jane (DeVisme) Thurston.

Fred spent his younger years attending school and causing mostly harmless trouble all across MDI. Over the years, he came to love the ocean and all types of fishing, particularly lobstering. He also loved ice fishing and clamming, the Patriots, and the Red Sox. Above all else, he loved his children and would often be heard saying “jeez, don’t I make some beautiful kids!”

He is survived by his life partner of the last 20 years, Rosie Madeira of Bernard, his four beloved children, Fred Thurston III of Seal Cove, Jennifer Thurston and partner Brandon Thomas of Sullivan, Alicia Thurston and Brady Thurston both of Bernard, his two granddaughters Rosealyn of Seal Cove and Avery of Sullivan; stepmother Kathi Thurston of Bernard, two brothers, Darrell Thurston of Tremont, and John Thurston and wife Krista of Bernard; lifelong friends Ricky Higgins and Pat Hanley both of Bass Harbor as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Fred was predeceased by his parents and his beloved dog Henry.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at www.acadiacremation.com
