Deckers, Annette Jeanne

Deckers, Annette Jeanne

Lamoine — Our beloved and beautiful Annette died peacefully on August 21,2016. We held her hand and kissed her face as she passed from this world and went to a place where pain can no longer reach her. Everyone who knew her loved her kindness, this will always be with us.

Annette Jeanne {Thurston} Deckers was born in Bar Harbor, Maine on October 29,1958 to Lucille {Farley} Walton and Maurice Thurston. She was a most caring daughter to her parents.

Annette was a loving mother to her children, Jessica Rogers and Thomas Deckers. The time spent with her children gave her the most joy. She was so proud of the adults they had grown into. She was a sweet sister to her siblings, Dolores, Tammy, Denise and Dennis. She had great love and deepest of affections for her fiancée, Steve Wardman. And she held a special place in her heart for Phil Deckers. Aunt Nette was a great friend to all her nieces and nephews. She had a loving place in her heart for all her family and friends.

Annette had a huge “green thumb” and always had a garden that would be the envy of all her friends. Family could always count on getting a special basket at Christmas time filled with all the canned vegetables from that garden. She helped many of us learn the finer skills of planting, harvesting and canning. Every year she would visit the garden show with her family where we would all admire the flowers; especially the lilies.

She enjoyed many pastimes; painting, knitting, quilting and scrapbooking. Her cooking & baking skills were very much admired and enjoyed by family and friends. She mastered many recipes handed down to her from her Nanny Marion Farley and mother Lucille. She enjoyed playing tennis with her “tennis gals”. She always said that playing tennis was her cure for the winter blues. Annette always had many furry friends around her to keep her company. Her German Shepherd Simon and tabby-cat William will miss her caring voice and loving attention.

Annette had so many different facets to her life; it’s impossible to mention them all. We will remember her as a vivacious woman with great style, a fun loving friend, a compassionate sister and a thoughtful daughter; she will be forever missed.

Gifts in memory of Annette may be sent to the MCMH Foundation – Mary Dow Center, 50 Union Street, Ellsworth, ME. 04605 for the Annette J. Deckers Memorial Fund. Donations will also be accepted at the Celebration of Life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lamoine State Park waterfront, 23 State Park Rd. Lamoine on Sunday the 11th of September between the hours of 2 pm and 5 pm.

Dear Annette, I am so saddened. I will miss your bubbly personality and your vivacious smile and encouragement on the tennis court. Rest in peace dear friend. I am so sorry I did not know of your suffering these past months. Wish I could have been there for you. I’m so happy to read you had such a large, loving and caring family. I’ll think of you often. Your friend down the road.

I will so miss the always present smile, sweet laughter and energy that Annette always displayed whenever we would meet. I played tennis with her many years ago and was so impressed with her skills, but her personality totally won me over. We would meet in and around the community even when we weren’t playing on the court and she exuded such a sense of warmth and presence each and every time. She was beautiful inside and out and the world will be a much duller and sadder place now that she is gone.

The world has lost in you a great painter, Annette, as the work you did for me in the ’80s at the Terrell House in Orono (among other venues) testifies. Rest in peace! My sincerest condolences to your family and friends.

I was so sad to hear of Annette’s passing. I know she will be missed by many friends and family. She was such a beautiful woman who loved laughing and having fun. No matter how long it had been, when I ran into Annette, she was welcoming and always made me laugh. Tammy, I know she was one of your best friends, I am so so sorry for your loss. Love, Marie
